FULL DESCRIPTION
Over the years, we’ve had so many requests for Lochlainn Seabrook’s screenplay A Rebel Born, we decided to take the unusual step of turning it into a book and making it available to the public for the first time! This lightly illustrated 232-page work - printed as an actual full-length feature film script - includes Col. Seabrook’s complete, original, unedited screenplay, his introduction, a cast list, and an instructive note from the publisher.
Powerful and transformative, the script follows Southern icon Nathan Bedford Forrest from young adulthood to the closing years of his amazing action-packed life. Both entertaining and historically accurate, this sweeping Southern-oriented drama offers the reader a rare opportunity to see the War for Southern Independence from the viewpoint of the South, and on a more personal level, through the eyes of a patriotic American, celebrated Tennessean, and brilliant general.
(Note: This is not the script for the Forbes Film production of A Rebel Born.)
We are pitching Col. Seabrook's script of A Rebel Born to filmmakers, producers, directors, actors. etc., who might be interested in bringing this historically accurate biopic to the big screen. Please contact us if interested.
IMPORTANT NOTE! A film titled A Rebel Born, produced by Forbes Films (released in 2017 and available on DVD and select streaming services), was adapted from Lochlainn Seabrook’s original screenplay. Unfortunately, the director-producer chose to use only an estimated 5–10 percent of Lochlainn’s script, replacing the vast majority with newly written scenes, characters, and dialogue that were not part of his original work. More seriously, several invented characters were given anti-Forrest statements—words that Lochlainn neither wrote nor would ever endorse.
Although Lochlainn is credited as the film’s “screenwriter,” the finished movie bears little resemblance to his actual screenplay, with approximately 90–95 percent of his material omitted and replaced. For the sake of clarity and historical record, readers should understand that the film does not accurately represent Lochlainn Seabrook’s screenplay or his interpretation of the subject.
That said, despite these substantial deviations, we continue to support the film as a well-intentioned, if flawed, educational effort, and encourage viewers to consult Lochlainn’s original screenplay (available on this page) and related books for his complete, unaltered vision.
