Also known as the Martin Cheairs House, Ferguson Hall is noted for being the headquarters of Confederate Gen. Earl Van Dorn in the Spring of 1863. It was also here that Van Dorn lost his life: shot by a local doctor, George B. Peters, who believed that the Rebel officer was having an affair with his wife.
