Nathan Bedford Forrest and the Ku Klux Klan: Yankee Myth, Confederate Fact

REVIEW: “I just got Nathan Bedford Forrest and the Ku Klux Klan: Yankee Myth, Confederate Fact. Though I have yet to finish it, it’s unbelievable the research Lochlainn Seabrook once again put into this book. Many don’t know the truth about [the Klan during Reconstruction], Forrest’s involvement with it, or the fact that there was an all black chapter in Nashville. This book is truly an eye opener. Certainly not what we are taught or what the media has told us. To me this is one of Lochlainn’s top 5 books! It’s a must for anyone that wants the truth! I believe his books would truly help this country as a whole.” - JOHN BULL BADER

DESCRIPTION
One of twelve books on General Forrest written by Lochlainn Seabrook, this title, Nathan Bedford Forrest and the Ku Klux Klan: Yankee Myth, Confederate Fact, contains rare photos and illustrations, official reports, and important eyewitness accounts by those who lived between 1861 and 1877.
In this fascinating, eye-opening book, the author explains that the original group was a conservative organization that intended to be temporary (which is why it lasted only three years), and had thousands of black supporters, assistants, and members, and was formed to protect Southerners of all races.
The author restores Forrest's reputation after being unfairly tarnished by a century and a half of attacks by the malicious and the uneducated. A must-read for all those who are in search of the facts about the General and the courageous organization that saved the South from the blight of Reconstruction.
Includes an index, bibliography, reference notes, and a comprehensive appendices section. The latter provides the full texts of the two Freedmen's Bureau Acts and the four Reconstruction Acts, as well as speeches, stories, and prayers concerning the period, all which add context, meaning, understanding, and interest to this invaluable work.
Available in paperback and hardcover. All text and images copyright © Sea Raven Press.
AMAZON REVIEW, 5 OUT OF 5 STARS: "You want some real history? You've found it. When someone mentions General Nathan Bedford Forrest, most only know that he was a slave owner, and that he was in the Klan. That he was a slave owner is true. That he was actually a member of the Klan is debatable. Seabrook brings out the real history of Forrest, that he emancipated his slaves before Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation took effect (bet you didn't know that). He also describes Forrest’s post war civil rights activities such as hiring blacks in his business and paying them white man's wages. Forrest took some heat for that. Seabrook brings out the true purpose of the original Klan, to bring order to chaos in the South, to protect the rights of all citizens, black and white. He also shows the difference of the original Reconstruction Klan, which disbanded in 1869-70, and the resurgent Klan of the early 1900s. Be assured they are not the same organization and did not have the same goals. Seabrook cites his work so his book is hard to argue against. I recommend this book to all, especially those predisposed to believe that Nathan Bedford Forrest was a villain. He certainly was not." - CHARLES K. REDMON (Note: I made my purchase at a thrift bookstore so it will not show up on Amazon as a verified purchase.)
