This historic Confederate mansion was built by Nathaniel F. Cheairs, the photographer’s 4th cousin. On Nov. 30, 1864, the morning after the Battle of Spring Hill, Confederate Gen. John Bell Hood and his officers met here for breakfast, then rode north and fought in the Battle of Franklin II later that day.
